English language classes are run by the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Home Tutor Scheme, NorthTec and private tutors. ESOL - Home Tutors Northland Inc. offers: "Social English Groups" - Monday mornings, 9.30 - 12 noon. This caters for all learners of English from non-English speakers through to more advanced learners. Evening classes aimed at learners in the workforce or who are about to join the workforce. One-to-one tutoring in a learner's own home for one hour every week. This is available free to migrants who have permanent residence or who are refugees. NorthTec is an official IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Testing Centre. The general English course at NorthTec is available in part-time and full-time options.
