Message from the Mayor
Whangarei District Council is undertaking a major project to plan and manage growth within our district over the next 50 years in a sustainable way. Sustainable Futures 30/50 will support Council’s vision of the ultimate living environment.It is being developed in support of the Northland Regional Growth Strategy currently being prepared by Northland Regional Council.
By 2060, another 55,000 people are expected to be taking advantage of our district’s lifestyle and opportunities, but we need to be sure that this growth is well managed and that it fosters strong economic development. We want to ensure that the very features of our slice of Northland which people value are maintained and enhanced ensure our future is vibrant, and that we make the right choices when it comes to developing our infrastructure.
I encourage you all to have your say, and be a part of the process to ensure that Whangarei District is the very best it can be.
