Resource Consent Application - Ean and Penny Brown

The proposal is to increase the annual allowable extraction limit for an existing quarry from 30,000 m3 loose measure (as previously approved under resource consent RC 35431) to up to 100,000 m3 loose measure. The total volume extracted from the quarry over its lifespan has been estimated at approximately 200,000 m3 (solid) of saleable material in the quarry area (as considered under resource consent RC 35431). To allow for variations in market demand the applicants are also seeking an unlimited lifespan allowing for a decreased level of annual extraction. As per the existing resource consent applying to the activity, there will be a daily extraction limit of 1,000 m3 and a daily limit upon vehicle movements of 150. The increase in allowable annual extraction may however mean an increase in the number of days annually whereby the daily vehicle movements exceed 30 (being up to a maximum of 150 vehicle movements daily). The proposal is a restricted discretionary activity under Rule 38.3.3 'Mineral Extraction' and Rule 38.3.6 'Traffic Movements'.
