Please be aware that the area as reported in the Property Identify or the popup is a GIS geometric approximate area, not the Certificate of Title Area. Clicking further through to the Rates Information and Assessments will display a Rating Area. For single parcel rating assessments, this will be the CT area , but for multiple rating parcels, like farm blocks, it will be a Total area as covered by the assessment valuation. Consult your CT and survey plan for the exact area.
The Data has been updated this month, November 2009, which includes new parcels cadastres, roads, District Plan changes, new subdivision approvals, addresses, pipelines, etc.
Do not use the GIS website and the area measure tool to measure house sizes for Fire Insurance premium purposes. The aerial photos may not show the current house configuration and it is not accurate enough for insurance purposes.
The archeological Sites show as symbols: round circles for GPS'd accurately confirmed sites and squares for older, less accurate data. The Site extent or size is NOT indicated by the size of the circle or square symbol but that the Site is approximately in the vicinity. A Site visit should be undertaken for more exact information. Field notes (Site Record Form) can be obtained from the Whangarei office of DOC. Quote the NZAA metric ID. For further advice and information, please phone the NZ Historic Places Trust: 09 4017947 in Kerikeri.
Please try out using the ID tool and double clicking on a parcel or just holding your cursor over a parcel until you get the popup. Then click on the ‘Click for Rates Details’ link. Follow any other links on the Assessment record to see a breakdown of the Rates.
The ID tool can also be used to click on contour lines to show the Elevation information. To turn on the Contours, click on the Land Resources Tab, and then on the Layers tab and then on the Contours ‘tick’ box.
