The NZ Transport Agency and Whangarei District Council will start work on six projects over the next four years along SH1 Whangarei to manage growing traffic numbers, improve safety and make travel easier for locals and visitors travelling in and around the area. The first improvement to get underway is Kamo Bypass stage 2.
The project also includes a new Spedding Road link, which is planned to start in early 2010 and will provide a connection between Tikipunga and Kamo by connecting the Tikipunga end of Spedding Road with the new Kamo Bypass extension.
