The Pukenui Forest - Ngahere o Pukenui Management Plan is a joint plan prepared in partnership with the Department of Conservation. The plan was approved in principle in December 2006 - execution will be undertaken following reserve classification. The plan became operative on 12 June 2009 (following the completion of classification).

This plan includes Pukenui Forest, Whau Valley Catchment, Coronation Scenic Reserve, Barge Showgrounds and Whangarei Quarry Gardens.
