The Whangarei District Council is responsible for the maintenance and administration of a number of cemeteries in the district, these include:
Maunu Park Cemetery and Crematorium
Maunu Park Cemetery and Crematorium is situated 6.5km west of Whangarei in Cemetery Road off SH 14 (the Whangarei to Dargaville highway). This facility has the capacity for burials, cremations, ash burials and scattering of ashes. The crematorium chapel is set in glades of native bush and is available for small family services and committals.
Onerahi Cemetery
Onerahi Cemetery is situated in Church Street, Onerahi. This cemetery has the capacity to offer burials and ash burials.
Kamo Cemetery
Kamo Cemetery is situated in Ketenikau Road, Kamo. This cemetery has now reached burial capacity but ash burial plots are still available.

Kioreroa Cemetery
Kioreroa Cemetery is situated on SH 1 (directly opposite the Gull Service Station) south of Whangarei.
Ngunguru Cemetery
Ngunguru Cemetery was vested in council in 1955 and was closed in 1981.
Whananaki Cemetery
Whananaki Cemetery was vested in council in 1970. (Link to headstone inscriptions at Whananaki).
Whangarei Heads Cemetery
Whangarei Heads Cemetery was vested in council in 1968.

Pioneer Cemetery is situated in Selwyn Avenue, Whangarei.
