Rubbish
Domestic type rubbish only. No trade waste accepted in weekly kerbside collections. Rubbish should be put out by 7.30am on rubbish day in:
- An official Whangarei District Council rubbish bag OR
- Any other bag with an official Whangarei District Council rubbish sticker on it. The rubbish bag should be:
- Maximum weight - 13kg
- Maximum size - 65 litres

Collection Days
Household rubbish and recycling collections are provided weekly at the gate or nearby for all households. Rural households not on a collection route should take their rubbish bag and recycle bin to the nearest intersection with the collection route.

Recycling
Items which are recycled: Paper, cardboard, approved recyclable plastics, glass, tins and cans.
Every household is entitled to a recycle bin, which belongs with the property. On rubbish day put the recycle bin out by 7.30 am. It will be emptied and returned to the kerbside. Paper for recycling should be tied in a bundle or put in a plastic bag beside the recycle bin.

Whangarei's resource recovery park, Resort, is located in Kioreroa Road, Whangarei. Open daily 7.30am to 5.00pm weekdays and 8.30am to 4.30pm weekends. Charges apply for the disposal of rubbish. There is no charge for approved recyclables.
