General Manager - Community
Summary: Whangarei is emerging as a cosmopolitan centre with a community and business hub that supports a diversity of residents and visitors. The district's extensive coastline boasts some of the most exquisite beaches and isolated island hideaways, while the wide-reaching farmlands extend into small rural settlements. When combined with the demands of urban growth the variety of our work at council keeps us challenged and keen for more.
Whangarei is on the up and now you have a unique chance to join the team shaping its future.
Whangarei District Council is seeking energetic, experienced and innovative leaders for three new senior executive positions. These are central roles in the organisation – setting its direction and driving performance to deliver the best results for the Whangarei District.
This is an exciting time for the District, with a growing population, a housing boom, and new developments in Whangarei City. We take our reputation as a lifestyle destination very seriously, and there’s a lot to make you ‘Love it Here!’ The Council is a key player in ensuring the District continues to prosper. As an employer, the Council has the luxury of being large enough to offer great opportunities and small enough to provide superb working relationships.
As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team, these General Manager roles report directly to the Chief Executive, and work together to implement the strategies and policies of the Council. Each role has a focus on the future and is tasked with ensuring long and short term objectives are met. Exceptional people skills are a must for these roles to shape and influence our people in meeting our organisational objectives.
Along with strategic leadership experience and strong interpersonal abilities, you will bring perspective, influence and transformative expertise. This is an outstanding opportunity for you to join a proactive Council committed to its community. If you want to utilise your strategic leadership skills, and you enjoy variety and challenge, then we would love to hear from you.
