Building Controls Officers
Summary: Whangarei is emerging as a cosmopolitan centre with a community and business hub that supports a diversity of residents and visitors. The district's extensive coastline boasts some of the most exquisite beaches and isolated island hideaways, while the wide-reaching farmlands extend into small rural settlements. When combined with the demands of urban growth the variety of our work at council keeps us challenged and keen for more.
Our wonderful district is growing as more and more people recognize the benefit of making this fabulous lifestyle destination their home. This increase in demand is keeping our accredited Building Compliance Team busy and with no end in sight we need more Building Controls Officers, at both an intermediate and senior level, to join us in supporting this exciting period of growth in our district.
If you have experience in a building controls environment preferably within a local authority and are keen to work in this busy, diverse and professional team then this could be a perfect opportunity for you. With strong development in our district, a supportive and positive working environment and an organisation which values its customers and its people there has never been a better time to make the move to Whangarei and join our team.
Candidates should be qualified in (or working towards) a relevant course of tertiary study for Building Controls Officers. Candidates not yet on an approved study pathway may still be considered if they are able to demonstrate the ability and strong motivation to attain a tertiary level qualification while working. All candidates should also be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the use of technology and be able to adapt to new technology quickly.
In addition applicants will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to relate well to others and understand customer needs and have a desire to be part of a progressive, hardworking and fun team.
