We provide a range of on-street parking and pay and display car parks for shoppers and visitors to the city centre.

Off street parking is available in the major retail shopping areas away from the city centre and in some local shopping areas.

You can now view the spaces available at various car parks in Whangarei and a parking location map with parking fees.  Follow the link below to view spaces available.

Parking fees

All parking charges apply from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.

The normal parking fees are charged for on-street parking in the central city and in the Laurie Hall carpark between 9:00am and 2:00pm on Saturdays.

Changes to Inner-City Car Parking

Parking is always one of ratepayers' biggest bugbears with Council but hopefully new changes to inner city parking will make the experience a little easier.

The changes will be rolled from 14 March 2020 and will simplify parking zones down from more than 15 to four.

New car park signs will also be installed with larger mPark numbers to make it easier for shoppers and visitors to see what zone they are in.

The new changes mean parking prices have been simplified across the central city – with costs decreasing in some areas and increasing in others

To view more information about the changes, please view the news story below:
