This page contains information about the carparks and parking charges in Whangarei.

We provide a range of on-street parking and pay and display car parks for shoppers and visitors to the city centre.

Off street parking is available in the major retail shopping areas away from the city centre and in some local shopping areas.

You can now view the spaces available at various car parks in Whangarei and a parking location map with parking fees.  Follow the link below to view spaces available.

Parking fees

All parking charges apply from Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm. The normal parking fees are charged for on-street parking in the central city and in the Laurie Hall carpark between 9.00am and 2.00pm on Saturdays.

Motorcycle parking

There are free, dedicated parking spaces for motorcycles and scooters in the city centre. They are clearly marked

  • James Street (midway)
  • Rathbone Street (near Robert Street)
  • Laurie Hall Park (at end of Robert Street)
  • Forum North

Reserved and/or monthly concession cards

Council has a number of parking facilities in the CBD.  A limited number of reserved and/or monthly concession cards are available for the Central City, Railway, Vinery Lane and Water Street car parks, and at the Town Basin.
