We provide a wide range of services to the community that involve costs in staff time and resources. We aim to balance the costs of providing these services between general or targeted rates and user pays, where a direct benefit to groups or indivduals has been identified.
Review of fees
Each year, we undertake a full review our fees and charges. Council has committed to limit increases to the value of the Local Government Cost Index (LGCI) except for those charges where cost recovery is the method used to establish them.
For the next financial year (2013-2014) we are seeking to recover costs for some services such as building and resource consents, which will result in some increases beyond the LGCI inflation rate.
