The Wastewater Bylaw covers wastewater drainage from domestic premises into Council’s public wastewater network.

The bylaw provides for the application for consent to:

  • connect to or disconnect from the public wastewater network.
  • discharge domestic wastewater into the public wastewater network.
  • excavate or develop close to and in some cases (with the written consent of Council) build over the public wastewater network.

It sets out the requirements and responsibilities of property owners for connection to, and maintenance of the drainage system in order to protect it from mis-use and damage.

This bylaw makes reference to the Trade Waste Bylaw, the Building Act 2004 and the Building Code, all of which are relevant in applying for consent to connect to and use the public drainage system.
