Updated: 28/07/2020 9:22 a.m.

The purpose of this bylaw is to ensure that advertising signs are erected, maintained, and displayed in a way that does not present a hazard or danger to public safety.

The bylaw recognises there is a need to advertise businesses and promote activities, events and commerce and to maintain aesthetic standards and preserve amenity values.

The bylaw also aims to prevent the proliferation of signs on our roads and streets and other places. It should be read in conjunction with the district plan rules on signs.

Supplementary to this bylaw we have created a guide to installing temporary political signage for the 2020 Election.
