The Local Government Act requires all Councils to have a Significance and Engagement Policy. It helps us decide what the really important issues are to our community, and how and when we will involve the community in decision making.

Council reviewed and adopted our Significance and Engagement Policy on 28 September 2017.

The Significance and Engagement Policy is intended to:

  • Enable Council and its communities to identify the degree of Significance attached to particular issues, proposals, assets, decisions and activities
  • Provide clarity about how and when communities can expect to be engaged in decisions to be made by Council
  • Inform Council from the beginning of a decision-making process about the extent of public engagement expected and the form and type of engagement required.
