Significance and Engagement Policy

This page contains information about Council's 2014 Significance and Engagement Policy and a link to the full version of it.
Updated: 28/11/2014 4:04 p.m.

Recent changes to the Local Government Act have required all Councils to write a Significance and Engagement Policy to help us decide what the really important issues are to our community, and how and when we will involve the community in decision making.

Council adopted its Significance and Engagement Policy on 26 November 2014.

The Significance and Engagement Policy is intended to:

  • Enable Council and its communities to identify the degree of Significance attached to particular issues, proposals, assets, decisions and activities
  • Provide clarity about how and when communities can expect to be engaged in decisions to be made by Council
  • Inform Council from the beginning of a decision-making process about the extent of public engagement expected and the form and type of engagement required.
