Accessibility Policy

This page contains a summary of the Accessibility Policy and a link to the full version of it.
Updated: 23/04/2019 8:25 a.m.

In late 2014, Council adopted an accessibility policy to ensure equity and access for people with disabilities are a priority in the work it does.

The guiding principles for this policy are:

  • We recognise the diverse needs of people with disabilities and acknowledges that people with disabilities are experts in their own experience.
  • We recognise the need to provide all people with equity of opportunity and access.  We have a regulatory function to ensure that quality standards and safety are maintained and barriers to access are removed.
  • We will act with integrity to maintain an ongoing partnership with people with disabilities built on mutual trust and respect.
  • We will actively involve people with disabilities in decisions that directly affect their living in the District.
