The meeting, which is held twice a year, brings together migrants, newcomers, services and anyone who wants to be involved with new people and cultures in our community.
“We come together to discuss settlement issues and plans how to improve on the information that newcomers get and help people to feel welcome here,” said Settlement Support Coordinator Ellen Altshuler.
“This Settlement Network meeting will build on the theme of ‘migration, identity and settlement' issues. Everyone who migrates to another country at some time faces challenges of their changing identity so our guest speaker Wong Liu Shueng, Director of Intercultural Works, will speak about multiple identities and how we manage to maintain our values and culture while learning to adapt in New Zealand.
"Participants will also get an update on Settlement Support activities and other migrant services such as the Whangarei Migrant Centre. It is a great opportunity to catch up with each other and to share experiences."
Everyone is welcome to come along. A light meal is included. For catering purposes, please register.
