Hundertwasser Art Centre update
At the Council meeting on 27 April 2011, councillors confirmed a preference for developing the Hundertwasser concept at the former Northland Harbour Board building at the Town Basin as part of the overall vision for the District outlined in the 30|50 Sustainable Futures Growth Strategy.

They also requested that a Special Consultative Process (SCP) including a range of funding options is carried out on the Hundertwasser proposal as part of the Growth Strategy shaping the future development of the District. This will be a greenfields funding review and may include ratepayer funding involvement.
Councillors approved a recommendation that the Special Consultative Process should begin with a presentation by staff on the 30|50 Sustainable Futures Growth Strategy at a series of public meetings.
They requested that staff bring a report to the May Council meeting giving the timeline for the Special Consultative Process and for the Hundertwasser Art Centre proposal, should it proceed.
They approved an official public opening and blessing for the model of the Hundertwasser Centre which is to be held on 26 May 2011.
