More volunteer driving mentors sought

This page contains information about seeking volunteer mentor drivers to join the Road Safe North team.

​We are seeking additional volunteer mentor drivers to join our team who help learner drivers gain experience in Whangarei to drive safely and pass the restricted driving test.

We seek from mentors:

  • a commitment to a learner driver of a minimum of two hours weekly between the hours of 9am and 5pm weekdays to supervise driving practice
  • be at least 25 years old and have held a current, clean full car drivers licence for at least two years
  • a patient, encouraging approach
  • a willingness to undergo training and a Police check.

We provide mentor drivers with:

  • a training/information session, held in Whangarei on Tuesday 15 May from 10.30am to 2.30pm including a light lunch. (The venue will be advised when you register as below)
  • a vehicle for use in the programme
  • resources to support the process
  • access to a driving instructor for ongoing support and clarification of any queries.
