Council’s Community Services Department has noticed a ‘gap in the market’ for information about the school holiday programmes that are available in our District and plans to fill that gap.

“We won’t be running holiday programmes, but we are going to gather all the information about who is doing what into one central place for people to refer to,” said Community Services Adviser Carla Janssen.

“Many organisations offer school holiday programmes and the Central Library has promoted its own activities for several years, but finding out about everything that is on offer can be a struggle for parents.”

“By contacting our team, organisers will be able to register their school holiday programmes free of charge and we will then publicise a list of school holiday programmes in the Council News pages in the Whangarei Leader, on this website, and via facebook.”

Ms Janssen said that the aim was to provide a single point of information about school holiday programmes, provide a service to residents and ratepayers, parents, grandparents and care givers.

It is a small thing that does not cost us very much, but is a good piece of value-added work for the community.

If you would like to publicise your programme please call Council on 09 4304200 and ask to speak to Community Services Adviser Carla Janssen.
