People are at the heart of fair trade
Fairtrade is about decent working conditions, environmental sustainability, product traceability and fair terms of trade for producers in the developing world.
Go bananas for Fair Trade fortnight
Bananas are one of our favourite foods - and they’re also big business. Purchasing a Fair Trade bunch ensures that you’re supporting growing efforts in fair conditions. So that farmers and workers can get a fair sale price and wages and are able to grow fruit sustainably, free from chemicals.
Whangarei is New Zealand’s first Fair Trade District. This year Council is supporting Fair Trade fortnight by providing complimentary Fair Trade bananas at our customer service reception areas.
This Fairtrade Fortnight you can create a better future for farmers, workers and their families around the world. Buy Fairtrade products and remove the shadow of doubt about where your groceries come from. Fair Trade products include tea - coffee- chocolate - bananas - coconuts - cotton - ginger - and many more.
Always look for the Fairtrade mark .
151 million reasons to put the end of child labour on your shopping list.
There are more than 151 million children, some as young as five, engaged in harmful child labour instead of getting an education or playing.
When you buy Fairtrade products you're putting some extras on your shopping list: gender equality, the eradication of child labour, fair prices and wages for farmers and workers and improving the environment.
