It’s July! That means it’s time for your best friend (of the k9 4-legged variety) to get a new piece of plastic jewellery for his/her collar!

All dogs over the age of three months must be registered. You must re- register your dog annually and this always expires on 30 June. You have until 1 August to do this without penalty.

Registering your dog is cheaper than getting a fine for not registering it. The registration fee varies depending on whether your dog is a service dog, whether or not it is de-sexed, or whether it’s a working dog or a dangerous breed, but in every case, paying this month is the best option cost-wise.

The fine for having an unregistered dog is $300.

Standard dog - $64

Neutered dog - $51

Working dog - $50

Registration of dangerous dog - 150% of relevant fee

Service dogs - $7

Replacement registration tag - $6

Late registration

Fees for dogs registered from 1 August 2018 onwards:
