Have you registered?

There is still time to register for this year’s Keep NZ Beautiful Clean Up Week, 10-16 September.

Council is supporting these events by arranging drop off spots for rubbish and we are keen to see people join in and give the District an extra bit of TLC during the week.

The aim is for lots of people to form teams to pick up rubbish across the District during the week, culminating in a fun day of clean-up events on 15 September. Register your clean up at or email

Keep New Zealand Beautiful will provide free clean-up kits, including rubbish and recycling bags and gloves, to the groups that register.

To make sure Council contractors pick up your group’s collection, contact us in advance of the day to arrange your drop off point.

Email or who will help you arrange all this.

On Saturday 15 September we will be celebrating everyone’s good work near the Canopy Bridge between noon and 2pm. Lots of local firms are providing sausages and other food. Keep New Zealand Beautiful partners GJ Gardner will be providing a gazebo.

Want to be involved? Here are some more ways:

  • become a 'Site Coordinator' (Identify and register your site with KNZB, plan your date/time and be the contact person for correspondence and materials)
  • identify a site that needs clean up attention. It could be near your premises or nearby park, beach, anywhere that needs attention. Add it to the KNZB website and it will be advertised by KNZB and Council, so that people in the District can help clean up the area. Then tell all your regular volunteers, friends and workmates about it
  • consider making it a social event, by having a BBQ and refreshments to celebrate your achievements in the clean-up.

So far these groups are organised:

We look forward to making this Keep NZ Beautiful Clean Up Week the biggest and best ever.
