Giving directions, sorting out problems like fly-tipping, spreading the good word about sunblock and tsunami awareness, Summer Safe Ambassadors have been keeping visitors safe at the district’s popular carparks this summer.

Seventeen carparks are being patrolled this summer, with a new electric car bringing CitySafe patrols to eight carparks in the Town Basin area as well as the Abbey Caves carpark.

Bream Bay Beach Patrols are also checking the Uretiti carpark which is popular with crab fishers.

The carpark ambassadors operate between 10:00am and 4:00pm on weekends and during statutory holidays over summer.

All carparks have toilets, apart from Whale Bay where a toilet is located down the track to the bay.

Abbey Caves, William Fraser Park and Uretiti Carpark have had temporary toilets installed for the summer.

Uretiti visitors can also use the Department of Conservation toilets at Uretiti Beach.
